28th April Lots of gardening
We had a bit of excitement on Friday as we’d heard that B&Q was open. Once I finished work at lunch time, we drove to Hall Road to check it out.
There was a long queue but it was a sunny day so we didn’t mind and after 20 minutes we were in the shop. It felt safer than the supermarkets. Social distancing was observed, there was disinfectant for the trollies and there was a one way system.
We headed straight for the garden centre. We were like kids in a candy store. We bought a battery mower, compost, raised beds, a watering can and numbers for our expected brown bin.
We headed home and put everything where it belonged in the garden. We realised that we would need more compost, raised beds and plants We were up early on Saturday and joined a longer queue and filled the car.
The weather was fantastic over the weekend so Peter worked very hard digging out new flower beds, moving compost and planting. He also managed to sell the old mower. He finished off the tasks on Monday and removed the rubbish.
We also had a lovely walk of just over 5 miles on Sunday morning, to the lake off Ringland Road. In the afternoon, while we enjoyed a much needed break, we had a surprise delivery: afternoon tea, which Alice & Chris had ordered as a consolation for missing our hen/stag weekend!
Monday meant a return to work for me & a drop in temperature. Another surprise delivery: earrings as a belated Mother’s Day present from Lizzie, James & William. Deliveries certainly brighten the day in these strange times.
At work there was a meeting yesterday, Maths project based learning today & tomorrow, so not much time for writing schemes of work
After hearing that this April has been the sunniest on record, Tuesday has been a very wet day. We had news that the Goat farm shop had bedding plants so that made a nice excursion at the end of the day. We bought fuschias, mesembryanthemums, dwarf marigolds, tomato, courgette AND they had marriage’s flour!
